Smackdown
The app I chose is called Zoom and I'm sure many of my classmates are familiar with it because of its rising popularity. Zoom is an application that can be installed on many different devices and is used as a video conferencing tool. There are however a few things that set zoom apart from other conferencing apps. The first aspect of a zoom that I enjoy is the easy-to-use interface. I was able to fully understand the app the second time using it which is always a plus. Zoom also has great tools that can be used within the app. These tools include a share screen option, record meeting option, live chat, contacts, live video, live audio, and even a raise hand feature.
With all of these tools being easily accessible to users and the rise of the pandemic this app has become very popular. It seems that currently many schools across the globe have been using it as well as other professions such as doctors and people in the business world. I will surely have to use this in my future profession as a teacher because of how schools plan to eliminate snow days. Schools now have the option to substitute snow days for online learning days with apps such as Zoom. Apart from using Zoom on snow days, I could also use Zoom to collaborate with other teachers and possibly even parents of students. Aside from using Zoom in my future I currently use it a good bit now. Every virtual learning class I am currently taking uses Zoom and all of its nifty tools. ReplyDeleteI feel like Zoom is our best friends now and days! It really is a great app that has helped everyone through this pandemic. Honestly don't know where it came from or who decided this is the platform we will be using from now on but hey it works! Zoom will help everyone in any career they decide to have.

ReplyDeleteIf you had told me what Zoom was 2 years ago; I would have told you that I have no use for it, but here we are now 😂. Zoom has proven to us all its potential over this past year. Great job explaining the app though!
ReplyDeletehaha loving these comments! Its sad that kids will hear stories of how studnets would get these magical days off called snow days. However I have enjoyed that I can stream zoom through my phone and not miss anything while continueing my day to day to do list. With it rising in popularity I hope they fix those little bugs that we run into every once in a while.
ReplyDeleteWho would have guessed that Zoom would become such an important tool? I remember when Skype came out and how innovative it was considered at that time. The world would have come to a screeching halt if we didn't have Zoom last year. Great job giving examples of how Zoom can be used for teachers and for students.
ReplyDeletezoom is a great app for student and teachers to meet without being in the same room. it has a bunch of great features that let you customize your experience.
ReplyDeleteZoom kind of pales in comparison to other apps like Discord and Skype, but I think the draw is definitely in the ease of accessibility. You can send a link to anyone to get started, from a young student to your grandparents!
ReplyDeleteI never even have heard of zoom until the coronavirus outbreak occurred. It has helped tremendously with keeping us in classes and not having to fully be online throughout our whole college experience.
ReplyDeleteGreat video presentation and you're right! Zoom can be used for literally everything! I use it for school and I also use it to call all my friends at once. We have a virtual movie night and we always take turns on who gets to share their screen for the movie. It's become such a life saver during this time and its been an important and safe way for everyone to stay connected. You did a great job of highlighting that during your presentation. Also, RIP snow days lol.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved the presentation, and I agree about how useful zoom really is! It saves a lot of time, is one of the best video call (if not, the best) apps, can screen share with little to no effort, and it helps a lot when it comes down to meeting dates and times. You did a really good job at bringing up all of the good points in your video presentation!
ReplyDeleteZoom, well zoom has taken over for online learning. This is a great application. In. my opinion I think it has made online learning easier! It is great simple and easy to use!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate zoom allowing for recording to be kept on servers as long as someone have the recording password. One of my professors keeps their recordings posted on blackboard and before each exam I play through a few lectures to refresh myself before the exam.

ReplyDeleteZoom is a great app and it's wonderful how many features it has to offer. I didn't even use Zoom until COVID begun but, it accommodates our restrictions in so many ways.
Zoom is an excellent tool for students and teachers to collaborate without having to be in the same space. It comes with a number of useful features that allow you to personalize your experience.
ReplyDeleteZoom has become the main giant in online learning and it is for good reason. Although it could never truly replace the experience of face-to-face learning, it is likely the best substitute we could ask for in our condition. Good job on the presentation!
ReplyDeleteI wish I thought of Zoom to do my Smackdown on! Of course we have all used it with the shutdown of schools due to COVID. I'm sure if you asked us two years ago what Zoom was, we would have had no idea! Thanks for sharing such a great tool that we use all the time!
