Smackdown

     The app I chose is called Zoom and I'm sure many of my classmates are familiar with it because of its rising popularity. Zoom is an application that can be installed on many different devices and is used as a video conferencing tool. There are however a few things that set zoom apart from other conferencing apps. The first aspect of a zoom that I enjoy is the easy-to-use interface. I was able to fully understand the app the second time using it which is always a plus. Zoom also has great tools that can be used within the app. These tools include a share screen option, record meeting option, live chat, contacts, live video, live audio, and even a raise hand feature.      With all of these tools being easily accessible to users and the rise of the pandemic this app has become very popular. It seems that currently many schools across the globe have been using it as well as other professions such as doctors and people in the business world. I will surely have to use this in my fut

 Chapter 6 of "The Connected Educator by Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach is about how to create an online digital community and what to be aware of. This chapter goes in-depth to explain the use of certain apps and how to screen for people to join the digital community. It is important to check users' accounts for material posted, network activity, the number of posts, and checking for their names before following them to decrease the amount of junk within a feed. I believe this information will aid me in my future career as a teacher because I will need to understand how to successfully create a digital community to teach and learn at the same time. One thing that I really took from this chapter was that it mentioned being more of a learner than a teacher when on the internet. This really spoke to me because it is important to always want to learn and to be open to learning from various people in various locations.
